 Great scale with extras on the side July 23, 2010

Well, it's been 2 weeks since I've got my Omron from Amazon. First impression was: WOW! It even grades the body age, which is a cool feature. The body fat percentage seems to vary from one value to another, but generally is spot on within the 0.5%. Same goes for muscle mass percentage. Overall, it gave me a better understanding of "what's going on inside my body", and made me eat healthy again, and hit the weight room 5 times a week. This is the extra motivation!
My wife likes it too, and is also weighting herself twice a day. Our standard measure now is the estimated 'body age'. It's fun, but at the same time gives you an idea on what needs to be done to achieve a healthy lifestyle.

This is my 2nd Omron full body sensor product, the first being the previous version of this one [a couple years ago so I don't remember the model number]. We only replaced our original product after the display lights were unreadable and the warranty was out. After checking the marketplace for a replacement, I decided on the Omron because of my satisfaction with the prior unit -- except for the display issue.
This unit is simple to operate and easy to read; the large digital display is easily observed from standing atop the scale. As for accuracy, it seems to have a bit more reliability compared to my last unit. No, I haven't been tested in a vat of water for my BMI but I do monitor it weekly and have done enough research to know that the unit is providing me w/accurate enough information.
I have a desk job that does allow me to get out of the chair for 2-3 hrs/day most weeks. I'm not a competitive athlete but am physically active, working out 4 times/week, 2 days w/weights and 2 aerobically, plus a couple nights of Krav Maga/week. All that to establish some credibility w/you and let you know that I'm like alot of guys in their late 40's doing what's necessary to stay in shape.
If you are into taking care of yourself, I think you'll be satisfied w/this Omron product.

I own a couple other Omron devises and have always found them well-built. This Full Body Sensor Body Fat and Body Composition Monitor is no exception. It feels solid and doesn't make any noise. The electronic switches have a nice feel. The weight scale is accurate and the other features seem to be but I have nothing to compare them too. The directions and operations are very simple to follow and execute. I can see why some people don't like this unit... it's because truth hurts. I consider myself very healthy and in good physical condition however this unit didn't have the same opinion. I have two choices. 1. Complain, whine and blame Omron. Or. 2. Make myself better. I'm choosing number two.

Hello Folks,
I did precisely what the instructions had stated (the when and the how) to take measurements.
The body fat percentage measurements were very far off. It kept showing body fat percentages of 20%+, when I am very lean, and you can easily see my eight pack abs. You cannot see a person's six pack, let alone eight pack, unless the person is below 10-12%. I have done Accu-Measure, and have the hand-grip Omron Digital Fat Meter, and they both say I at at 9 - 11%.

Good scale, very accurate. Like the ability to have 4 profiles. Body composition did not work well for me. It continually read me 21-24% and 39-42 body age. I have had 2 different parties using 2 different methods but read me at 12-14% and 27-29 body age. I understand the fluctuation, but not the huge accuracy issue. I have seen other comments about people with lots of muscle mass not getting good results. I am a muscular guy so maybe that is why it not accurate for me also. Either way, it is quite disappointing. You pay this much not for just a scale, which is all I could trust it as. I am returning mine.
